It's strange, isn't it, how we tend to think our lives can only go in one direction. It's like living near a big city - you tend to think that all roads lead to the city, not that, from that point, you can choose any direction away from it you want, and just follow it.
I live in a big city. Whenever I think about moving to its surroundings, I always think of how much time I'd spend to travel back to the city, when I needed anything. I never even consider that I'll be closer to other interesting towns, or that I could just keep going on the opposite direction of the city - and arrive at a new, maybe completely different, place. The funny part is that I love to travel, and nonetheless my mind is trapped on that big magnetic center the big city had turned into.
So it seems to be with life - we have our big cities: graduating, making money, marrying someone, getting settled somewhere. And every aspect of these has its own centers: privileged professions, beauty standards, expensive houses.
If we aren't careful enough to look to either sides of the road - or place where we are - we are trapped into believing it's some kind of path we have follow, and that's there's only one direction to go.
I choose to look around.
